The Microsoft Access Runtime enables you to distribute Microsoft Access applications to users who don’t have Microsoft Office installed on their computers or a version of Microsoft Office that doesn’t include Access.
The Microsoft Access Runtime includes the Access Database Engine (ADE), which can be used to facilitate the transfer of data between Microsoft Office System files and non-Microsoft Office applications through OLEDB, ODBC, and DAO interfaces.
So besides the runtime itself, the installers below also include the Microsoft Access Database Engine, which is great if you’re shipping a custom application that uses Microsoft Access as its database.
